Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends
1. China Continues to Slow
Because China is the 2nd largest economy in the
world, they’re success or failure will take a huge toll on the rest of the
world. China’s issues entail they’re growth rate and how it will most likely
reach over 6.4%, however it will still not lead the country to a stable Chinese
economy. There is an opportunity to offer this government the stability they
need. The current solution is that policymakers have being supporting the
corporate sector with cheap credit. This solution will not stand and just increase
their debt. Our best customer will be willing to take part in this economy by financially
supporting this cause. This opportunity will be difficult to exploit since we must
figure out how we can develop a solution to help China achieve their targets in
a sustainable manner but also profitable for our investors.
2. Financial Markets Control Prices
According to this article, it shows that supply and demand
are not controlling prices anymore but through a range of factors. For example,
when it came to gas and oil prices, the prices changed depending on the investors’
moods. Now commodity traders are now setting the prices for food gas and oil. Customers
who most likely to take advantage of this opportunity are foreign traders who
set the value of their own dollar. This opportunity is relatively easy but not
necessarily difficult to exploit because it all depends on the moods and
current economic climates.
3.
Increased Global Cooperation
According to this article, “Perhaps the most pervasive change
in the regulatory landscape over the last decade has been increased cooperation
amongst global regulators and enforcement agencies.” After countless trials and
investigations of global companies participating in misconduct need to
understand that regulatory agencies and law enforcement are starting o share
with each other what they know. Because of this they are now working together
to end any unethical practices being conducted in other countries.
Organizations that specialize in protecting the “little guys” against corrupt corruptions
would be my pro-typical customer because they will be interested in working
with enforcement agencies to help bring justice to everyone. I believe this
will be a relatively easy opportunity to exploit knowing that there is a lot of
misconduct occurring across the world, however some issues will rise as
President Trump makes his decisions from here on out.
4. Increased Enforcement of Cyber Regulations
Cyber regulation has become an enforcement priority after it received
great amount of increase attention. After former President Barack Obama signed
into the law the Cybersecurity Act of 2015, many federal agencies have
increased their enforcement on companies which had lapses in their security programs.
A preferred customer would be cyber-security companies. They now have a demand for
increased cyber-security and it is continuously increasing. This would be a relatively
easy market to exploit knowing that as the world advances in technology the ore
digital we become which only leaves u vulnerable to cyber-attacks.
Hi Beau,
ReplyDeleteI recently read an article about how IBMs revenue is declining, and one reason was because of the weakened global economy and it mentioned China. For a company like IBM who collects most of its’ revenue from global business, I can see how a weakened global economy can be a problem. Furthermore, I think increased cybersecurity regulations is good. Recently, Equifax was hacked and many consumers were impacted. If a concrete cybersecurity system was in place, this attack may have been stopped.
Hello Beau!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading all of these, but the one that interested me the most was the one about cyber regulation. This is a topic that I find to be very important, and the fact that it is getting more attention is very good, in my opinion. I also agree that as technology continues to advance, people will find themselves more and more vulnerable to being hacked. For this reason, placing more cyber regulations could be beneficial to many people.
Hi beau!
ReplyDeleteYou made really great points in recognizing economic trends. One point that you made that really interested me was the increasing importance to cyber security for the American community. It is true that there currently is not a lot that companies and individuals can do to be one hundred percent safe from hackers or viruses. Companies spend millions on cyber security and it still does not guarantee that they will be safe. There is definitely huge opportunity in this sector.
